🎄 Detty December Roundup: Funke Akindele Breaks the Box Office, Simi’s Big Reveal, and Why the “A Very Dirty Christmas” Title is Sparking Fire

The Christmas jingle isn’t just in the air—it’s in the numbers, the music videos, and the social media trends! This year’s "Detty December" is delivering enough drama and success stories to keep us talking until the New Year.

From record-breaking cinema runs to emotional pregnancy reveals, here is everything you missed in the world of Nigerian entertainment this week.

đź‘‘ The Box Office Queen: Funke Akindele Does It Again!

Just when we thought she couldn’t top herself, Funke Akindele has shattered her own records. Her latest cinematic masterpiece, 'Behind the Scenes', has officially grossed ₦512 million in just over a week.

  • The Record: It is now the highest-grossing Nollywood film of 2025.
  • The Story: The film, which stars Scarlet Gomez as Ronke Fernandez, explores the heavy reality of "Black Tax" and family pressure—a theme clearly hitting home with West African audiences.
  • Star Power: With a cast including Tobi Bakre, Mr Macaroni, and the Wanni x Handi twins, the movie is currently the #1 film across Nigeria and Ghana.

🤰 "Duduke 2.0?" Simi and Adekunle Gold Surprise Fans

The "First Family of Afrobeats" just gave us the ultimate Christmas gift. In the newly released music video for "My Love Is The Same," Simi officially revealed her baby bump, confirming that she and Adekunle Gold are expecting their second child!

The video is a beautiful tribute to their family life, featuring their daughter, Deja, and intimate moments that have left fans (and fellow celebrities) emotional. After the global success of "Duduke" during her first pregnancy, social media is already calling this new era the "Duduke 2.0" season.

🎥 The Controversy: Ini Edo’s "A Very Dirty Christmas"

While Funke Akindele is celebrating, Ini Edo is navigating some holiday turbulence. Her star-studded film, 'A Very Dirty Christmas', faced unexpected backlash from the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and other groups over its "offensive" title.

In a move to save the film from being pulled from cinemas, Ini Edo has reportedly expressed a willingness to engage with the NFVCB (Censors Board) to find a middle ground—even if it means a title change. Despite the noise, the film’s premiere in Lekki was a fashion masterclass, with stars like Rita Dominic and Tiwa Savage turning heads in velvet and lace.

📸 Snapshots from the Gram: 2025 Celebrity Christmas

If you weren't on Instagram yesterday, you missed the annual "Pyjama Wars." This year, the trend shifted from minimalist vibes back to Bold & Extra.

  • The Mercy Johnson-Okojie Clan: Always the blueprint for family coordination.
  • Wizkid & Jada P: While Big Wiz kept it lowkey, Jada shared adorable snaps of the kids that nearly broke the internet.
  • Davido’s Big Win: Aside from family time, OBO reportedly netted over $96,000 on a sports bet after predicting the Super Eagles' AFCON victory!
