The Comedy Doctor is Still In: Gordons Balances Classic Stand-Up with New Skit Strategy

Godwin Komone, better known as Gordons (The Comedy Clinic Doctor, or Gordons De Berlusconi), is one of the foundational figures of Nigerian comedy. While the industry has been transformed by skit makers and social media, Gordons has confirmed he is "still very much in the comedy industry" and actively adapting to the new landscape.

Gordons' Latest Moves:

  • Rebranding and Skit Making: The comedian recently announced a plan to re-strategize his brand to maximize the social media space. This includes a push into creating short-form skits to be uploaded on platforms like YouTube, a necessary step for comedians to remain visible to the younger, digitally-focused audience.
  • The Comedy Clinic is Open: He is still actively performing his classic stand-up. Videos of his recent appearances at major comedy shows like "Koliko On Duty" and "Service with Mudiaga" are still circulating and drawing big laughs, proving his unique blend of intelligent humour and "Hallelujah" taglines still resonate strongly.
  • Social Commentary and Mental Health: Beyond the jokes, Gordons uses his platform for deeper commentary. He recently held powerful conversations that blend humor, faith, and a focus on mental health awareness across Africa, noting the alarming rise of mental health struggles among Nigerian youth. He believes comedy can be a tool for healing and education.
  • Tours and Events: He remains a staple in live events, hosting shows, and lining up international tours across Canada, Europe, and the United States, in addition to major events across Nigeria (Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Uyo).

Gordons is a great example of a comedy legend who knows how to adapt his craft while staying true to the stage that made him famous.
